Types of Hash — Pressed, Bubble, and Full Melt

Three ways trichomes become hash. Dry-sift / pressed hash is the traditional route: dried cannabis sifted over fine screens to collect the resin powder (kief), then pressed — with heat, hand-kneading, or both — into blocks. This is the classic dark hash most people picture. Bubble (ice-water) hash is the modern solventless method: flower agitated in ice water so the trichome heads snap off, caught in graduated filter bags, and dried — the cleanest mechanical separation there is. Full melt isn't a method but a grade: the informal 1–6 star scale for how completely hash vaporizes. One-to-two star burns like traditional hash and belongs in joints and bowls; five-to-six star "full melt" is nearly pure trichome heads, clean enough to dab like a concentrate. How to Smoke Hash

The classic method: warm a piece between your fingers (or for a couple of seconds over a flame) until it softens, crumble it fine, and mix it into a joint with flower — about one part hash to two or three parts flower spreads evenly and burns clean. In a pipe or bong, layer crumbled hash over a bed of flower, or use a screen if smoking it straight. Full-melt grades can be dabbed like any concentrate.
